If you’re not completely knackered before you dial the ESA claim line on 0800 055 6688, you probably will be by the end of the phone call.
If you can before hand, go to the loo, make a cuppa, and then try not to doze off as you’re waiting for someone to answer the bloody phone!
I waited for 35 minutes for a pleasant gentleman to answer my call at Paisley Service Centre. He reassured me that it was a free call from my landline phone, and that I wouldn’t be charged when I exceeded 60 minutes on the phone. I didn’t want to hang up as I approached 60 minutes, as I’d already had to wait 35 minutes for the call to be answered in the first instance. I was asked to list all my problems, which I did to the best of my ability, trying to think of everything during this never-ending phone call……..
I didn’t get to write down much of what he said, I was shattered by the end of it, as I’d been on phone for 114 minutes (including 35 minutes waiting for call to be answered). I made a new claim for ESA (Employment & Support Allowance – 6th Claim). I’m self-certified for first week of new claim, but must provide new Medical Certificate for second week onwards.
