I’ve phoned the DWP/ESA (Employment & Support Allowance) to check whether they’ve spoken to my GP, and given her the guidance/info she needs regarding repeat ESA claims and the issuing of Medical Certificates. I waited for 21 minutes for my call to be answered, by “L” at Bridgend Service Centre. He said there aren’t any calls in my log to indicate that my GP has phoned DWP to enquire specifically about my case. But if my GP just rang them with a general query, re: issuance of Med Cert of a repeat ESA claim, that wouldn’t show on my log, & DWP wouldn’t be able to discuss 3rd party call (ie GP ringing for general advice) with me. “L” at Bridgend Service Centre said my GP Surgery should already know what the qualifying criteria are for issuing Medical Certificates for repeat ESA claims.
“L” confirmed conditions for issuing new Med Cert for repeat ESA claim after losing a Tribunal are:
– significantly worsening condition
– a new condition
I asked “L” to put note on system to say I’m going to be late sending in medical evidence/Med Cert, as I’m really struggling & totally overwhelmed. [Total call duration 28.5 mins.]
