Despite an earlier letter from Birmingham City Council giving me until 14th October 2016, & further being told that I’ve got until 18th October 2016 to provide details/evidence of my income change, and my local Council’s own website saying I don’t need to complete their on-line Change of Circumstance form, I receive a threatening letter from Birmingham City Council today.
Today’s letter, which bears the date 5th October 2016, is titled “YOUR HOME IS AT RISK IF YOU DO NOT CLEAR THIS DEBT”.
Last week I was £300+ in rent arrears. This coming week I’ll be £400+ in rent arrears.
The letter warns “Your rent debt is at an unacceptable level. Failure to clear this debt within 24 hours of receiving this letter will result in a Notice of Seeking Possession being served, which is the start of legal action to repossess your home.”
It would seem that Birmingham City Council probably talent scouts some of its senior employees from the same puddle that the DWP does, as neither organisation seem to adhere to its own deadline, and simply choose to ignore whatever you have the courtesy to tell them!
