I’ve phoned the Department for Work & Pensions to check on the progress of my new Income Support claim (3rd claim). I waited for 12 minutes for my call to be answered, by “J” at Gloucester Benefits Centre. I explained how I’ve received a letter from Birmingham City Council’s Rent Service on Saturday 8th October 2016, threatening repossession, as I’m in rent arrears since Housing Benefit & Council Tax Benefit were suspended. “J” will contact the Benefits Processing Centre (New Claims), they open at 9am, tell them my circumstances, & hopefully they’ll speed things up. Someone should call me back between 9am and 12 noon.
