As I’ve just been advised by “S” at Handsworth Benefit Processing (DWP) to do, I phoned 0800 0556688 to make a new claim for JSA (Jobseeker’s Allowance). “S” at Rotherham Contact Centre (DWP) answered, & I explained the chaos of the last 2 months as regards ESA-JSA-I.S. and now I’m again having to make a claim for JSA. I requested backdating to 7th September 2016. “S” said the system wasn’t letting him do anything, so he put me on hold, then he said a “full gather” was done on 28th September 2016 (which is when I’d previously tried to claim JSA, but woman taking my claim had said I was entitled to Income Support!), so he can’t take a new claim for me.
“S” booked me an appointment at a Jobcentre next week. I must turn up half an hour early, it’s a clerical appointment, & I’ll be given a form to complete. I must take my bank statement, P45, CV (if I’ve got one), & I.D., & I’ll go through Jobseeker’s Agreement. [Total of 24 mins on phone.]
