“S” phoned me from Handsworth Benefit Processing (DWP), as I’d asked for a Senior Manager to call me back, & explain why my claim for Income Support has been turned down. “S” said that the Decision Maker isn’t there at the moment, & a letter confirming their Decision has already been sent to me, but it doesn’t give a detailed explanation. I asked “S” for a STATEMENT OF REASONS (a detailed explanation), “S” said she will ensure this is sent to me, it will be via 2nd class post. I asked “S” to include links to the relevant law. I still want Decision Maker to call me & explain rationale behind Decision. We also discussed my Complaint.
I reminded “S” that it was the DWP that first advised me on the 28th & 29th of September 2016 that I was entitled to Income Support, & I believe the Complex Advice Team has misadvised the Decision Maker. I will be requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration (once I’ve received the STATEMENT OF REASONS (a detailed explanation).
I asked if the email address firstname.lastname@example.org was still valid, she advised me that it was.
“S” advised me to claim JSA (Jobseeker’s Allowance), if I’m again told that I’m eligible to claim Income Support, I should just press ahead and continue with the JSA claim.
