It is now more than one month since I claimed Income Support (4th claim) at Erdington Jobcentre, (to be processed at Handsworth), and I’ve received no decision, & no payment yet. So it’s time to waste another hour or so of my life, & phone the DWP on 0345 6088545. I wait for 12 minutes for my call to be answered by “C” in Lincoln. I explained to “C” why I made the Income Support (4th claim), namely that “J” at Sutton Coldfield Jobcentre said I couldn’t reduce my Claimant Commitment to zero hours for a while (as part of my JSA (2nd claim)), & I’ve already been refused ESA (6th claim), & I clearly need something to live on.
“C” said my JSA (2nd claim) ended on 2nd January 2017, despite me attending Jobclub & signing on on the 3rd Jan 2017. I said I’ve already asked for the I.S. (4th claim) date to be backdated to 3rd January 2017, & my JSA (2nd claim) date to be changed from the 2nd to the 3rd of January 2017. I said I escalated a complaint via email on 9th Dec 2016, but I still haven’t received a response. I said I submitted further evidence for my I.S. (4th claim) via email on 25th January 2017. “C” put me on hold for a long period, while he spoke to supervisor “S” at Handsworth Benefit Processing Centre (DWP). “S” assured “C” that I will receive a decision by the end of this week.

“C” asked them to respond to the escalated complaint I’d sent on 9th Dec 2016. Iasked “C” for a full paper copy of the Decision Maker’s Guide for Income Support, & also the full I.S. Regulations. For health reasons, I can’t spend as much time on-line as I need to, so I require full paper copies, as almost all of my benefit claims end up going through to Mandatory Reconsideration or the Tribunal Service. “C” put me on hold again.
Then “C” said he’ll ask Benefits Processing (Handsworth DWP) to phone me, I should receive call back by 10:25am tomorrow. [Total call duration 67 minutes]
