I arrived at Erdington Jobcentre early at about 9:20am, for my Signing On Appointment. As I was early (aren’t I good!) I used a computer there, I was helped by “S”, as I’d never used computer there before. “O” showed me how to transform one of my CVs off the Universal Jobmatch website, into a .doc
I then had to upload my CV in its new .doc format, to a different job website, to apply for a specific job. There wasn’t time to modify my CV .doc, as I had to log off in time for my Signing On appt, which was a pity, as vacancy description specified they preferred “blind” CVs. It’s a shame that the employer doesn’t appreciate that not all potential employees have got the software/knowledge at home to create a .doc version to upload.
I signed on with “MI” today, at the end of my appt, I asked to use the loo. “MI” said I must ask the security guard, so I asked the security guard. This particular security guard was flummoxed by my request, he told me to ask DWP staff. So, third time lucky, I asked “S”, and he told guard to escort me to the loo.
As I had some spare time after the loo, I used a computer again. I printed off a couple of lengthy job applications & descriptions.
I’m pleased to say the Jobcentre wasn’t hot today. Then I had to nip to a couple of shops and the bank, then sat waiting in a bus stop for over an hour, for my lift back home.
